It leaves my hair shiny, easy to brush, smooth, and rids the build-up of oils in my hair while still leaving it hydrated and not stripped. Pine tar is known to be great for the scalp as well. I shampoo my hair and leave in the soap while I complete cleansing my body for extra benefit. Because coconut oil can sometimes lift recently color-treated (7-10 days) hair faster than other oils, we recommend the duck egg soap and patriot pure bar first for color-treated hair.
Patriot Pure Shampoo: made with castor oil, olive oil, coconut oil, goat milk, & lard, this shampoo bar is ideal for dry to normal hair, curly, wavy, coily, thick or coarse hair and for dry, sensitive or flaky scalps. (Pine Tar is better for fine or oily hair.) This is a very conditioning, gentle, moisturizing shampoo bar leaving hair soft, silky, and moisturized. Hair will be cleaned but not stripped. This shampoo may reduce friz while defining curls or waves. The lather is creamy & lotion-like.

The 50%/50% Lard/Tallow Bar is an excellent shampoo bar for people with dry, coarse, brittle, color-treated, heat-damaged hair, or sensitive scalp. It gently washes hair without stripping natural oils. That's why we don't recommend this soap for people with oily hair or for people who like a ton of lather. This is a great soap if you wash your hair frequently as well since it doesn't over strip.
After shampooing human hair, we recommend using an apple cider vinegar rinse.
